Final Thought

WOW What a Trip… Dunno how I will explain just how good it has been and how much fun I have had over the last 5 weeks. It has been an amazing time. One I will never forget. Hong Kong, Zermat, Paris, London, San Francisco, New York, Orlando, Las Vegas and Los Angeles All them in 5 weeks not a bad effort. Plus stops in Melbourne, Sydney, Honolulu and Washington. The best of them all well it’s hard because they were all great but Hong Kong and New York were great. I love how busy they are and how much there is to do. The worst well that was Sydney when we got home, I am still not a fan of that airport. All the hotel I booked were great and didn’t have a problem with any of them, so the hours and hours of work I put into getting good ones paid off, I hope Tim and Joel appreciate how much work it took to do that.

Not sure how many photos we took between us but it’s over 200 GB and many hours of video. It will take along time to go through them all, but we have time before our next trip. I will say my thanks to Tim and Joel for there part on our trip and for putting up with me for 5 weeks, I know by the end we had enough but its all worth it. So we will start to plan the next trip for a few years time.

This trip was not cheap but it’s worth every cent, one I would happily pay again. Next time different destinations and I am sure more fun.

Well that’s it, my holiday has come to an end. After counting down the last 130 days on the computer waiting for this trip to start, it seems to have gone too quick. I know it took five weeks because I am stuffed, living out of a case for that long and being on the move all the time really does wear you out. So thanks Tim and Joel for helping make the last 36days so good.

11:59pm Sydney Time

On our final flight home now, its a but later than we planned but still home a lot faster than if we went to Melbourne. The flight back to Australia was long, really long i think we were in the plane for about 19hrs. Thanks to the stupid to load the aircraft. But once we were in the air it was fine. I got a bit of sleep watched a few movies and listened to some music. We had our stop in Honolulu i remember landing but that’s it next thing we were flying again and i had missed half the movie. We got into Sydney about 2hrs late then we had to clear customs, so by the time we got to the rex desk we had missed it by about 3hrs. But we got on the next flight anyway. The rex flight should get us into Albury at about 1pm. Funny thing going through security to get on this flight, I found out that i had been carrying my knife with me on all the flights in America, and took until now for them to find it, its a huge knife which you could do some serious damage with. And one other things, How good is it to here Australians, you really do miss our accents. When you have been away for so long not hearing it, you forget what it sounds like, every now and then you will pick a bit up at an airport, but nothing beats walking into Sydney customs and hearing them answer you with “not bad mate” you miss that. And all the other slang we have over here, you have to try not to use it when you are away because they just look at you funny.

8:29am LA Time

We are flying again, we have been in the air now for about 9 hours well bit less than as we had to stop and get fuel in Honolulu. We are now 2hrs behind as we left an hour late because there was too much cargo so we were too heavy and would not make it non-stop. So they took a shit load of fuel off and topped us up there. It also doesn’t help we are in one of there oldest 747’s so we use more fuel anyway. So we are set to land at 8am…REX flight is at 8:15am…..do the maths…and yep we miss our flight. Looks like we will have to try and get the 11am flight. if its not full.

5:01pm LAX Time

Well the last one was not the last post as i am again waiting for my 2nd last flight before we get home. Tims flight just left after being delayed for over and hour. Will be weird with him not in albury but oh well :-(    :-(    :- (   Have a little wait to go about 5 hrs. We had to get to the airport early because of the traffic in LA and there is no public transport, so its taxi and the taxis change $25hrs for traffic delays plus the fair and there are 2hr delays into Hollywood and back so it would cost us about $150 to get into town plus we have bags so we decided to sit at the airport for a few hours. So now i wait…..

5:06pm LAX Time

Still waiting…

6:54pm LAX Time

And still waiting……

7:39pm LAX Time

Still waiting…. I want food

9:23pm LAX Time

Still Waiting….20min until we Board

1:30pm L.A Time

I have good news…..we fly to sydney now, not melbourne. We were set to fly to melbourne and wait 10hrs then fly to albury, but i did some work on the net and found out we had to stop in sydney.  So i checked how much it was to fly to albury and it was only $79!!!! What a Bargin. So when we got here i asked united to change our bags so they get off at sydney with us. Now we have to wait about 45min and we will be home at 9am and not 9pm.

8:01am L.A Time

Our last day of our Round the World Trip has started. Yep we fly home today on the long flight home. Its a good 16-18hrs and a wait in Melbourne then we are off to albury then to my house. So this will be the last update before i get to Australia. Today not much will happen, will go to the airport and go see the Hollywood sign. Tims off today to live in Canada with his old lady, weird i think but whatever makes him happy i guess. At least he will get all the good parking spots. I will do my holiday wrap and L.A wrap on the flight home and update this when i get to Melbourne.

7:21pm L.A Time

Today we went to Six Flags Magic Mountain. We were goin to get a taxi but Tim got on the net and asked one of his tibia friends if he would drive us there. He said Yes if we paid for his ticket and petrol cos he has no money. While we were waiting out the front we saw a Honda go past with the front smashed in. We had a laugh and said “wouldn’t it be funny if that was him” and it was, the poor guy crashed his car on the way to get us. Yep didn’t some good damage too. But yeah we got there on time and it was really good. Got our tickets on the net for $26 better than if you get them at the gat they are around $50 to $60. The rides were good, just lots of really big coasters. After today i think i am all coastered out. In the last 5 weeks i think i have gone on over 20 different ones, and about 50 different rides. The park was really empty so there was no wait to get on rides. There was only one problem the X2 was being built and the Deja Vu broke down while we were waiting in line. Was funny it was going really fast then stopped, lowered the cars to a safe level and they said “Sorry its broken” and we left. After we did all the ride we could go on we came home. Now we are going to get tea and do something

8:59pm Los Angeles Time

Made it…. Our second last flight landed safe and sound and has been the best flight to date, not only did i get a free upgrade i also had the aisle and a free seat next to me. And to top it off it was only 48min and was sleeping the whole time. Now for my Vegas wrap.

What a place, its big, flat, loud and bright. Its not too expensive and there is heaps to do, we got to shoot machine guns and go on tehe highest ride in the world and many other things. But thats just a tiny amount that can be done here. I think you need about 2 weeks here to see the good stuff and i only had 3 1/2 days. So out of 10 i would give it an 7.5 there was too much construction going on and makes the strip a bit spread out, u can walk for about 150 with not casino or shop where they are building a new one. But other than that its great and a must for people goin to the USA and dont forget the gun store. Its a 9.5 out of 10. Only because of the price.

1:15pm Las Vegas Time

After another great breakfast we were off to the Gun Store, its a shop that sell guns and stuff. But the best thing is they also rent guns, lots of them. From Shotguns to handguns to machine guns. The hardest question was what ones to choose, its not cheap but worth every cent, where in Australia can you shoot a Uzi or a M16. So i first decided to shoot a M6 Carbine, 50 shots at FULL AUTO and its was sweet, The noise and shock and the gun powder gas getting you in the eye makes for one great experience, after that i decided to shoot the biggest hand gun they had a Desert Eagle, it was huge and i had 10 shots, I have it on video but it is really heavy and has a huge recoil. So then i decided to have a crack at a Police Sniper Rifle, and it too was great, not much recoil and change the round manually added to it, i didn’t do to bad on that. It was the one of the best experiences i have had on this holiday so far, its a must for anyone who visits Las Vegas. After that we were off the StarTrek Experience it too was great, had heaps of stuff there 2 rides and a gift shop. i really enjoyed it, as usal Tim and Joel made stupid Jokes about how shit it was (while joel took heaps of photos) . But this was for me and i loved it. So many models i want like the the Voyager model that was about 3m long. After that we are back in the room about to go and have tea.

6:30pm Las Vegas Time

Tea is over and i am full, it wasn’t bad at all. Now we are off to walk the strip, go on some rides and watch a show. Should be good.

11:31pm Las Vegas Time

Another day down, Just walked down the strip, it looks pretty good at night, but like most other places we have been on this holiday alot is under construction, so there are huge gaps between buildings where they have pulled down the old one and are building a new one. Went into a Ferrari store and had a look at some nice cars and then decided to go to the Worlds Largest Gift Shop, its full of shit you dont really want. Went to go on the speed ride but it was closed, will have to go tomorrow. Not sure what Joel and Tim are doin as they walked off on me (turned around and they were gone) and i haven’t seen them since 6:30pm. I think they wanted to go to a magic show, but it cost $100 and thats a bit much to watch a 2hr magic show. I will just watch the same tricks on you tube :-)

9:40pm Vegas Time

Wow what a busy day, we got a little bit done today but most was taken up driving. Got a great breakfast $12 all you can eat, its good value since thats all you need for the whole day. After that we were off to the hoover dam, its not to bad. Big and stuff. Its only 30miles from LV so it didnt take long to get there. After that off the the West canyon sky walk. Another 100miles You can google it or wait for more pics but its just a glass bridge that goes out over the edge. Its really high, about 1200m up. Joel really didnt like it at first but by the end was even jumping on it. Its very very expensive at $70 each but worth it. Then the bus takes you to another part of the grand canyon where they just let you go anywhere, so we did and got some great shots over the edge. Had some other people worried but we are all safe and the pics are great.
Americas dont like the seed limit. It ranges from a slow 25mph to 65mph. About the same as home. and not sure how much you can go over here, i decided to keep up with the locals, and Its GREAT. The mini vans do about 90 to 100mph, some even faster. I think the average we did on the main road was 80mph and a bit faster on the back road. If you change that to kph its about 140 to 150. AND because we have V8 mustang it loved it and did it with ease. The only downside was the fuel we used an entire tank yesterday. I think i love V8s it sounds so good when you hammer it :) And another good thing the road was dirt for 18miles so there was a bit of drifting, its rwd and has power and that = lots of fun.
